North Central London collaboration
NHS Enfield Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) along with the other four CCGs in North Central London (Barnet, Camden, Haringey, and Islington) has been considering how it can work together to improve and strengthen commissioning responsibilities to help improve the care, services and outcomes that the 1.4 million population receives across the NCL boroughs.
The NCL CCGs commissioned a bespoke programme of work to explore how best to achieve this, given the significant challenge faced by the five CCGs and local NHS providers in delivering clinically and financially sustainable health services. The NCL population is projected to rise by 6% over the next five years, with a financial deficit of £400-900M across NCL by 2019/2020, dependent on the delivery of improved productivity and innovation by redesigning services.
The five CCGs have agreed to collaborate in key areas to improve patient services:
- Acute Services Redesign including Urgent and Emergency Care
- Mental Health Transformation
- Primary Care Transformation
- Enabling work streams: estates
The five NCL CCG governing bodies will agree governance arrangements to support this collaborative working with amendments to their individual constitutions.
Approval of these collaborative governance arrangements will go to Enfield CCG’s governing body meeting on 14th October with further details.
