NHS Enfield Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has appointed Dr Fawad Hussain to the position of Secondary Care Specialist to the Governing Body.
Dr Hussain MBBS, MSc, FRCP is an experienced clinician and Consultant Dermatologist. He has been on the General Medical Council's Specialist Register for Dermatology since 2012. He gained his general medical experience whilst working in various hospitals throughout England and Scotland. He trained in Dermatology in Aberdeen, Scotland, where he gained comprehensive training in all aspects of general, paediatric and surgical dermatology. He was also an honorary lecturer for the University of Aberdeen. He has being working as Consultant Dermatologist at Barking, Havering and Redbridge NHS Trust since 2013 and is also currently the skin cancer lead for the department. He acted as clinical lead for dermatology from 2015 till 2018 and is currently the Associate Medical Director and Responsible Officer for the Trust.
Dr Hussain is a Fellow of Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh since 2014, Royal College of Physicians of London since 2018, and Royal Society of Medicine since 2012. He is member of British Association of Dermatologist (BAD) since 2008 and also member of BAD’s the Therapy and Guidelines Committee.
The Secondary Care Specialist role brings a broader view on health and care issues, informed by their expertise and experience in planned and unplanned secondary care, tertiary services, or mental health. Additionally, the role provides an independent view to the Governing Body on provider quality and safety processes and procedures and to influence quality improvement as well as to provide independent strategic clinical view on all aspects of CCG business.
Dr Hussain formally commenced in the role from 2 January 2019 and replaces Professor Robert Elkeles, who has served on the CCG Governing Body for 6 years.
